In the first quarter of 2022, Isro to launch SSLV, lift-off satellites from four countries during 2021- 2023

The SSLV will offer payload potential of 500 kilograms to a 500 kilometers planar orbit.

On Thursday, Dr Jitendra Singh, the Minister of Science and Technology, gave addressed in Rajya Sabha in written, that the Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV) is being evolved by the Indian Space and Research Organization (Isro) and is in last stage of formation and its initial launch will be conducted during the first quarter of 2022.

The SSLV has a power of providing a payload of 500 kilograms to 500 kilometers planar orbit. If SSLV is compared with PSLV, then the workhouse of Isro can extend up to payload of 1,750 kilograms within 600 km altitude of SSO.

However, the government has approved Rs.169 crores for the growth of this project. Under this, all the qualification, development and improvements of the vehicle systems and the demonstration of flight via three development flights that is SSLV-D1, SSLV-D2, and SSLV-D3 will be covered.

The required structure and hardware and other material for the development SSLV project involving nozzle sub-systems, solid motor cases, inter-stage structures, mandrels for the casting of solid motors, actuator motors add fixtures will be received through the private industries/companies.

The Ministry of Science and Technology addressed in a statement that, in order to cater to the increasing opportunities in the global launch services market for small satellites, the development of SSLV has primarily anticipated to produce a cost-effective launch vehicle including high launch frequency and with quick turnaround ability.

The SSLV is primarily a solid vehicle of three-stage which will contain the choice of mounting multiple satellite like for nano, micro and small satellites.

During 2021 to 2023 Isro launched satellites from four countries-

By generating 132 million euros income, the Isro has signed about six agreements with four countries to launch satellites during the year 2021 to2023. Besides, on the commercial basis, the space agency via its commercial arms, the New Space India Limited (NSIL) will began to launch its satellites onboard Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV).

The Ministry addressed in a written reply, in the last three years, India has earned foreign exchange revenue of around $35 million and 10 million euros, through launching onboard foreign satellites an Indian launch vehicle.

He further said that, primarily the type of satellites that have been launched by Isro in past involves satellites for the observation of earth and for the purpose of technology and scientific demonstration.

Isro has launched 342 foreign satellites totally from the year 1999 and those were belonging to 34 countries.
